Automotive window switch component maintenance: data flow resistance waveform analysis to solve window switch failure

This issue: Sharing the resistance, data flow, and waveform of the Volkswagen Magotan car glass regulator (window) switch.

When the glass regulator switch (window) switch status — not in operation

(1) We can read the state position data stream of the window switch through the decoder for analysis, as follows:

front window lifter button, driver’s side —- not started;

The front window lifter button on the co-driver’s side — not activated;

window regulator, rear, driver’s side — not running;

Window adjustment motor, rear, front co-driver’s side— not running;

(2) Measurement results of window switch resistance value

Resistance value: infinity (at this time, the switch is not operated to measure the component resistance);

Waveform analysis (for a 12V square wave)

Glass regulator switch (window) switch status — manual rising

front window lifter button, manual rise —- driver’s side;

Resistance value: about 820 ohms (manual rise at this time);

(3) Waveform analysis (for a 5.2V square wave)

The glass regulator switch (window) switch status — automatically rising

Front window lifter button, driver’s side —- automatically rise;

Resistance value: about 270 ohms (manual rise at this time);

(3) Waveform analysis (for a 2.2V square wave)

Glass regulator switch (window) switch status — manually lowered

Front window lifter button, driver’s side —- manually lowered;

Resistance value: about 100 ohms (manual rise at this time);

(3) Waveform analysis (for a 1.2V square wave)

The glass regulator switch (window) switch status — automatically lowered

Front window lifter button, driver’s side —- automatically rise;

Resistance value: about 0 ohms (manual rise at this time);

(3) Waveform analysis (for a 0V square wave)

Finally: Summary of the five position measurement data of the window switch

Child safety lock (rear window lock switch) data flow and waveform analysis for glass lift systems

1. Child safety lock (rear window lock switch) —

Not turned on

The button —- of the child restraint is not activated;

The rear window regulator child safety lock on the driver’s side is not activated —

(2) Waveform when not turned on (a 12V square wave)

2. Child safety lock (rear window lock switch) —

Turned on

Child restraint button —- pressed;

The rear window regulator on the driver’s side — activated
