Recently, according to overseas media reports, Volkswagen launched a new Golf GTI modified concept car – Golf GTI BBS Concept – in tribute to the classic Golf GTI (MK2) launched in the 80s. In order to maintain the soul of the Golf Mk8, Volkswagen has completely retained the basic styling and power system of the regular GTI. The car is still equipped with a 2.0T turbocharged engine with a maximum power of 179kW and a peak torque of 370Nm, and the drivetrain is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Externally, the concept car is based on the eighth-generation Golf GTI, with classic BBS Super RS gold wheels and the classic red and black body latte of the Golf GTI (MK2), and replaced it with Borla sports exhaust. In addition, the new car’s headfog lights have been replaced with five yellow light sources, and the overall shape is more retro. At the same time, the manufacturer also upgraded the H&R short spring for the car, and adjusted the camber angle for the suspension. This makes the new car taller and sportier.
