Ms. Shi said that she had communicated with the person in charge of the Hema store several times on this matter, but the other party said that the store was not responsible and refused to bear the liability for compensation.
On February 23, The Paper intervened in the matter. On February 28, according to Ms. Shi’s feedback, after several consultations with Freshippo, the two parties have now reached an agreement that Hema will bear half of the medical expenses.
The surveillance video provided by Ms. Shi showed that at the time of the incident, Ms. Shi was picking goods and her son was playing nearby; Then the child accidentally hit the front of the shopping cart with his eye in the process of squatting and standing up, and then ran to the parent.
Ms. Shi said that when she saw the child’s eyes bleeding, she immediately took the child to the hospital, and the doctor diagnosed the injury as a “right eyelid skin laceration”, but fortunately it did not hurt the eyeball and did not damage the vision.
Diagnostic results
Ms. Shi told The Paper that she communicated with the person in charge of the Hema store several times on this matter, but the other party said that Hema was not at fault and refused to bear the relevant responsibility.
The photos provided by Ms. Shi show that the front end of the Hema shopping cart has parts protruding downwards, and it has right-angled edges, without protective devices such as crash strips.
“My child is about one meter, and for a child of this height, the shopping cart of Hema is indeed a security risk. If this problem is not solved, what if other children are injured again in the future? Ms. Shi was dissatisfied with Freshippo’s handling and believed that Hema should actively improve the design of the shopping cart, add protective strips, and bear part of the medical expenses.
