What I’m going to unpack with you this time is my new long gloves. I was hit a week before New Year’s Eve, and my original New Year’s Eve travel plan was completely ruined, and until today, my car has not been repaired, and the follow-up to the accident is still waiting for the police to judge and mediate.
The only thing that is more fortunate is that because both parties have insured the third liability insurance, the subsequent claims will be easier to handle, but it is still very troublesome, especially after the other party’s claim assessment of my vehicle, I called to bargain and said that the maintenance fee was too high.
But then again, if I and the other party only have strong dangers today, then things will be difficult and difficult to handle, after all, the other party is not lightly injured and I need a while to repair the car.
Continuing to return to the topic, I really appreciated that my R&R gloves and anti-fall suit protected my hands and upper body without too much pain. Although there were still strains and inflammation after the follow-up to the hospital for diagnosis, I still have to do basic recovery until now. But compared to the multiple abrasions on my teeth, broken toes, bones, and bones, my injuries were really blocked by the equipment. This confirms what many people say:
Equipment does not guarantee a certain safety, and it is not safe to wear iron with or without equipment
Since I didn’t ride a car for 3 days during the holiday, I could only find maintenance materials and personal parts for the car, and although I still have a pair of SBK SBX long gloves to wear, I still have to find a pair of long gloves to replace the R&R gloves damaged in the car accident.
Among the many glove styles, only one pair of male gloves left on this shelf caught my eye, the integrity of the protection is good, and the workmanship and price are also good CP values, and the last pair of black on the shelf is just my size. After thinking about it, I bought him. Let’s officially unpack the box.
Naturally, it will not be some low-quality thing that will appear here, otherwise how can it poison me. So I quickly searched with the text on the hang tag, hit OKUMA, ran out a bunch of fishing tackle and hit GCG-108 to find some relevant information.
In fact, when I first saw these gloves, my first reaction was, where did this brand come from? Because just like going to the exhibition and seeing some small factories clearing, the gloves in front of you are a completely unfamiliar brand although they taste very good. But he hung next door to the display area of Star A, and I think it will naturally not be a “unknown” sign.
Turning to the back and typing “Big Bear Co., Ltd.” in the lower right corner to search, I realized that this is a cheap brand from Japan, and for me, a small office worker, “parity” and “CP value” are words that will make me unable to parry.
This is the state when you first got the gloves, which are hung on the hang tag
This is the design that many gloves will have at present, that is, the button is designed at the end of the two pairs of gloves, this design is that it can be directly buttoned on the hang tag when sold, and the second is that consumers can also use this button if they want to store it in the wardrobe after purchase. However, compared to the buttons of the R&R gloves, the button straps of these big male gloves are not so good, and the buttons are very tight, and it takes some force to separate.
The reason why this pair of OKUMA GCG-108 will make my first impression is because of the “thick feeling” and the calm sense of the entire color matching. These gloves come in four colors: white, red, blue, and black, but only this color combination of black makes me fall in love with it at a glance. The calm black color is printed through the matching of materials and the jumping color of the stitching to show the texture and stability, and there is this versatile feeling.
The visual eye of the whole pair of gloves looks like this hand back protector
The back of the hand protector of the OKUMA GCG-108 is a carbon fiber hard guard
But on the guard, there are also plastic air intakes, and metal mesh in the airway to make a sense of hierarchy and main vision.
At the back of the hand protector there is also a carbon fiber & plastic large-area composite hard protective gear, which is designed to be quite similar to the teacher’s gloves. It’s just that Dennis is carbon fiber with silver shiny titanium alloy.
There is also a hard protective gear on the back of the wrist, but it is small and made of hard plastic
Then there’s the finger protector part, the OKUMA GCG-108’s finger brace is a bit worse than my broken R&R. The level of finger protection is similar to that of my current SBK SBX, which is the practice of protecting the little finger with thicker leather without protective gear. But unlike SBK’s entire finger protector, which is carbon fiber, this pair of OKUMA GCG-108 is made of plastic protection at the front knuckle and carbon fiber protector on the back knuckle.
Close-up of the rear knuckle guard, and the drop-shaped carbon fiber protective gear has a flat shape.
Close-up of the plastic protective gear of the front knuckle, the whole shape is more three-dimensional.
Although the protective gear seems to be similar to my current SBK SBX grade, OKUMA GCG-108 is relatively easy to wear in terms of leather cutting, which may have something to do with the shape of the leather and the difference in the caterpillar telescopic design.
The thumb protector also does not use carbon fiber or hard protection, and the gloves at this price point are basically the same in the thumb part, so there is nothing to pick.
Close-up of the thumb soft protector, OKUMA GCG-108 also adds a telescopic design to the bend of the thumb to enhance the feel.
The little finger is protected by thickening leather, which extends from the little finger to the palm of the hand, in addition to making the shape consistent, but also making the whole glove more three-dimensional.
Close-up of the little finger, compared with the broken R&R, the little finger is weaker without the embellishment of the protective gear.
Overall, it is 600 yuan for gloves, and finger protection is probably this level. However, although everyone’s comparison value is similar, each family has its own mastery of tailoring design and wearing comfort, and in my own experience, Japanese gloves feel very close to my hands in this regard. Of course, everyone’s hand shape and favorite feel are different, so some people may prefer domestic products, and some may prefer European tailoring designs.
Before we look at the palm after wearing it, first let’s take a look at his small brand, this pair of gloves is made in Pakistan, many Japanese brands seem to be produced here, and my R&R is also made in this country.
On the other side is Nobita’s LOGO, this pair of gloves from the hang tag to the name tag does not say its composition material and other information, so I may also say wrong in the material, and then everyone will see that there is a mistake in helping to correct it.
Next, let’s look at the palm, OKUMA GCG-108 uses a collage of various materials in the palm part, as well as a three-dimensional cut design, which has become quite common in the trend of recent years.
Although the palm protector of OKUMA GCG-108 is a hard protective gear, it is not carbon fiber, but a general plastic protective gear.
Although the overall texture is still not bad, it is not so imposing, but this point can be regarded as canceling each other in the relatively large area of this palm protector.
In the first half of the palm, you can see that the color of the leather is not the same, and the texture of the leather is also different, if there is no accident I guess it should be kangaroo leather, I first knew and came into contact with this leather on the gloves of DreamWorks.
Although everyone said that the material and feel of kangaroo leather were great, the DreamWorks gloves did not feel like this in my feelings. And this pair? It is true that the leather feeling in the palm of the hand is relatively thin, but maybe the relationship between the previous pair of R&R cut design is too strong, I think the feel is still a small loss, some do not alternate wear is insensible.
The whole glove looks like when you put it on. There is also an anti-slip fabric sewn on the front of his palm, but his anti-slip fabric is a little hairy to the touch, I personally don’t love it, but the actual use of the condition will wait until the car is repaired to experience.
The OKUMA GCG-108 is also put on and taken off in two fasteners, the first of which is on the wrist, which is nothing special.
It is worth mentioning that in the second paragraph, unlike the design of directly buttoning a Velcro, he has the order of the left and right sides and must first cover the inside before covering the outside, which is really troublesome. Especially when I go out like me, I often stop to take pictures when I see the scenery and then continue to ride, and I will be more concerned about the convenience of putting on and taking off.
In addition, if the forearm is thicker because of heavy training and then wears a wrestling suit, the buckle may not be able to be buttoned beautifully, so this pair of gloves still needs to be tried on the spot, and it will be better to decide whether to buy it.
After the buckle, the biggest difference between this pair of gloves and the domestic glove box of the same price is here, in terms of domestic gloves of the same price, the protection of the back half of the long gloves is usually hard protective gear, and the same is true for Japanese gloves with a price of more than 800.
Although hard protective gear cannot be used due to price problems, this pair of OKUMA GCG-108 is also relatively large in the entire wrist protection range. From the picture, you can see that the protective block extends from the back of the wrist to the fastener side, and matches with the hard wrist protector in front to make the wrist protection more comprehensive. So although there is no full hard protective gear, at least the basic protection is still there.
The inside of the wrist is also protected by a large area of soft guard
The whole back of the hand comes to one, you can find that the design of the protective gear is actually very comprehensive, soft protective gear, plastic protective block, carbon fiber protective block, leather home thickness, the entire glove from beginning to end is targeted to design protective gear.
The breathability part is that because the current weather is winter, I can’t be very accurate, but as far as the hardware design is concerned, the main thing is the air intake design with the back of the hand.
Then there is the side of the glove, and the side of the fingers are perforated leather, so that the heat of the hand can be dissipated.
Finally, to share the experience of unboxing, you asked me why I still buy him since I know that he has some shortcomings that I will care about. The reason is actually very simple, “feeling” my hands are actually small compared to my body shape and height, and the length of my fingers to wear European gloves does not necessarily fit well. Although I wanted to buy European gloves a few times, a pair of gloves that fit better at the end made me discourage the idea of buying European gloves to try.
Although these gloves have been in place for a while, because the car has not yet been repaired, I have actually only tried them on and brought them on the road on a scooter. Although the overall comfort and softness of OKUMA GCG-108 are still inferior to R&R, it has performed quite well compared to the domestic or European gloves I have brought. In particular, the feeling of the palm of my hand is quite good and fits my hand, and although the inner lining of the glove looks rough, this feeling disappears after actually wearing it.
Four years ago, I once went to the big version of the Nanhai parts main store, when I saw the shelves full of Japanese brand gloves, the price after conversion is within 800 yuan, I was super envious and super want to buy a few pairs to wear, but I just bought gloves and was still a poor student and dismissed this idea.
In recent years, the options and places to buy such parts have become more and more diversified, and there is not much to fault for buying Japanese brands at the price of 800 pieces. Although his protective gear material has some areas that can be strengthened, and although his fastener is not very convenient, the pair of OKUMA GCG-108 that is most relevant to our cycling does make me like it.
So even if he has some shortcomings that I care more about, I am still very happy to defeat him, and I have tried some more advanced glove styles, but I have found that in addition to protection, comfort and feel are also very important for my daily use and traveling rider.
So after I choose gloves will not necessarily put the protective gear level and price level to the first choice, let myself like to wear, willing to wear, often wear is suitable for me, assuming that today I only have a pair of gloves, when I spent a lot of money to buy a pair of high-end gloves but reluctant to wear out, this accident I may not be able to retreat. It is impossible to share this unboxing article with this intact finger typing.
Therefore, sometimes you really don’t look at the price and grade to pick parts, pick your favorite and willing to use often, and other budgets are enough, and when there are parts for daily transportation, it is not too late to buy higher-end or specific occasion parts.
