According to Deutsche Presse, a new survey shows that Germany continued to rank firmly as the most automated economy in Europe last year.
According to the International Federation of Robotics (IFR), the number of industrial robots per 10,000 employees in Germany has risen to a record 371.
Sweden ranks second in Europe, with a robot density of 289 per 10,000 employees.
Globally, Germany ranks fourth, behind South Korea, Singapore and Japan.
Milton Gehry, president of the International Federation of Robotics, explained that robot density is a “very important measure” for understanding differences in levels of automation between economies.
The global average robot density has almost doubled in the past 5 years, from 66 per 10,000 employees in 2015 to 126 today.
With the significant increase in robot installations, the density of robots in China has surged from 49 in 2015 to 246 in 2020.
According to an earlier report published by the International Federation of Robotics, Germany accounted for 33% of total robot installations in Europe in 2020, followed by Italy and France with 13% and 8% respectively.
Overall, robot installations in Europe decreased by 8% in 2020 compared to 2019. (Compilation/Wang Lei)
