I. Preamble:
The model competition of “Ultra Hunter – Kaineng” has entered its second edition. By chance, I participated in this Kaineng Model Competition at the instigation of my friends, and also took this opportunity to understand how far domestic mecha models have developed.
2. Body settings:
Since I had not seen Kaineng animation before making the model, I didn’t know much about this Gelyon, so I simply transformed it from the perspective of the model. Now it seems that this blue-armored ghost attendant can probably be understood as a ritual body that does not have actual combat significance, and it can also be understood as an all-round fighter mech used in the chaotic space of the ghost and god world, maybe it will be interesting to expand in this direction? The above are some of my own entertainment settings for this machine, friends don’t be more real~
Third, the production process:
This time, the 1/144 scale of the C-TYPE was used in Gelyon. The model prime group feels good, whether it is mold opening, part composition and fineness, etc. are relatively close to the level of today’s mainstream assembly models, the only deficiency is that the joint of the elbow is soft rubber, which is not easy to color.
The overall impression of Gelyon is with a fierce skeleton face, but the overall is slightly bulky. In order to make good use of this face, it was decided to refer to Hondo Sokatsu in “Sengoku BASARA” and the Green Cannon Samurai in the movie “Pretty Girl Special Assault Team” to create an ancient mecha with the feeling of an armored warrior.
The modified parts use the legs of HGUC GP02A and the armor of Guan Yu of Mikuni BB, and are paired with a sacrificial weapon set to highlight the ancient atmosphere.
1. Head
The head can be described as the soul of the entire model, based on the head of Gelion, glued to the three horns of Guan Yu’s helmet, disassembled the second half of Guan Yu’s helmet, and installed it on the top of the backpack with a movable shaft, creating the feeling of a warrior’s helmet as a whole.
2. Body
The body part first lengthens the neck to adjust the overall proportions, and at the same time adds the rosary inside the sacrificial weapon set. The chest part is made of the blow back of Seki Yu’s helmet, and the chest of HG Susanoo is used as the cuirass, and the core modeling parts are added inside, and small nozzles are installed on both sides of the chest. An injector is added to the left and right sides of the backpack integrated with the body, and the original central ejector is equipped with the GP02 parts.
3. Arms
Abandoning the original asymmetrical shoulder armor design, use the Gemini Gundam shoulders with Gelyon’s calf front armor to make shoulder pads, and glue Guan Yu’s foot ghost head to create the feeling of an ancient warframe, and add two jets on the inside. Guan Yu’s waist armor part is added to the shoulder joint as armor, the elbow joint is replaced with a plastic movable shaft part, Guan Yu’s shoulder armor is connected by magnets to make forearm armor, and a large GP02 jet port is added to the back of the elbow. The fist is combined with Susanoo’s hand back armor and Galezzo’s palm parts to create a fist feeling.
4. Waist
Place a 2mm sheet of rubber between the body and the waist to free up space behind the waist for mounting weapon pylons. The front skirt armor is made from the Oni Head and Shoulder Armor of Mikuni BB Kanpei, and the weapon pylons are modified from the beam sword pylons of MG Rem rear skirt armor.
5. Legs
Redo the shaft connecting the waist to the thigh to fit the GP02A leg, extend the knee joint by 2mm, glue the ghost head of Guan Yu’s shoulder armor in front of the calf (which happens to form the image of the ghost head opening with the spikes of the sole), glue the ejector assembly behind the original Galion calf to maintain the unity of the world view, and use Guan Yu shoulder armor parts and ejectors on both sides to make armor. The original circular shape of the foot in front was replaced with a jet port, and the white heel part was removed, and a large GP02 ejector was installed to create the impression of a highly maneuverable type.
6 armed
The armament of the body is selected from the axe, mallet, beak knife, trident and ten hands in the sacrificial weapon set, of which the axe and mallet are used as handheld weapons, and the remaining three are mounted on weapon pylons behind the waist.
7. Coating
After the overall renovation, Tamiya toothpaste is used to make the casting feeling and rust locally, and the GAIA water is sprayed to make the soil to enter the coloring stage.
The color scheme uses red, blue and gold to create the image of a warrior. The main trunk and ordinary armor of the body are painted in blue and black, adding a little max effect, the skeleton and joints of the body are highlighted by a contrasting red, and at the same time express the image of the blood-red body under the armor, the armor and ghost head parts with obvious ancient armor characteristics are painted in dark gold, and the skeleton faces in the key parts are painted with gray and white paint and the eyes are painted with bright red pen to express the image of evil ghosts. After the spraying is completed, the whole is infiltrated with dark brown enamel paint, and then the whole is dry swept with silver black to show the effect of paint removal and rust, and the dark gold armor is dry swept gold, showing a strong brass texture, reflecting the thick feeling of the body. After the whole coating is completed, use a little of the old soil powder of the county, and add some dust texture to the appropriate parts.
8. Floor
After the Gelyon model was made, the model was paired with a homemade floor based on the nature of the experiment. Using a commercially available round wooden floor as the base, cut a slightly smaller 1.5mm plastic board and draw a cross grid at an equal distance of 10mm on it, and add large and small holes through power tools to show the old red brick paving. The paint uses red, black, brown to mix a variety of colors in different proportions and then randomly paint with a pen, deliberately retaining the traces of pen marks and uneven colors, dark brown seeps and then adjusts a slightly lighter color than the main color for dry cleaning, after the coating is completed, a little grass powder is glued in a suitable place to show the weeds, moss, etc. that grow from the brick seams. The highlight of the entire floor is the addition of a brass nameplate with the name of the work. The nameplate is cut out using 0.3mm glue sheet, printed out and pasted on 0.3mm plastic board after making the required text on the computer, carefully cut out with a sharp blade and pasted to the rectangular glue board, and applied to the surface using Tamiya flow joint glue to eliminate roughness. The paint of the nameplate is much the same as that of the gold armor of Gelyon, except that the use of pen painting emphasizes the forged texture of the nameplate.
Fourth, production impressions
The production of Gelyon was quite smooth overall. When I first saw the image of Gelyon, my first impression was that I would make it a realistic body with a Kondo-style body, but I expect many friends to go in this direction. When collecting transformation materials in the model shop, I entered a box of Three Kingdoms BB Guan Yu by the way, and the inspiration was sudden in the process of going back to play, but it made this transformation in one go, which really feels quite wonderful~
Originally, the starting point of this competition was purely to support a domestic mecha model, but unexpectedly it was also recognized by the judges and won a special award from the judges, which was really overjoyed. Please advise me in the future!
