On the afternoon of February 6, Japanese figure skater Yuzuru Hanyu finally flew to Beijing. At the Capital Airport, Hanyu, wearing a dark blue suit, had a relaxed expression. After getting off the plane, he went straight to a closed-loop hotel selected by the Japanese Olympic Committee for Japanese athletes. Without giving any public interviews, Hanyu’s arrival was remarkably low-key amid the noise.
February 6 is the day of the pre-competition draw for the men’s singles event. On February 7, there was the last training session before the official men’s singles competition. Hanyu, who has not shown up for a long time, will definitely appear, but what time has been the focus of repeated inquiries by reporters. According to the training schedule provided by the organizing committee, the specific training time plan for each person will be closed today. Hanyu’s name is also among them, and the training time is from 18:35 to 19:10 in the afternoon. However, the training table, which has been printed with Hanyu’s name every day since February 1, has only stopped at the level of the table, and Hanyu has not been welcomed on the ice of the Capital Gymnasium.
And tomorrow, Hanyu will finally make an appearance. According to the plan, tomorrow’s pre-competition training for men’s singles skating will be held from 12 noon to 14:30 p.m. at the Capital Stadium Figure Skating Training Center. Because the training time is very broad, many media asked the organizing committee early in the morning whether it could provide a more specific training plan, but the answer given by the organizing committee was: no.
Either way, Hanyu is finally about to make his official appearance. It was his first and last training session before the men’s singles short program. According to the results of today’s draw, Hanyu will play in 21st place in the 8th match. Hopefully, he will enjoy the ice of the first body and skate out of the 4A of his dreams here.
